One thought ahead. Three sentences behind.

COME VISIT OUR NEIGHBOR

While driving downtown, I came across a billboard the size of Rhode Island.  For all the real estate it only said:

MONTANA: GATEWAY TO YELLOWSTONE

For those who would like a geography lesson Yellowstone is a national park in Wyoming with slivers bleeding into Montana and Idaho.  Knowing this why would any state build an advertising campaign around a feature that barely resides within its borders?  It like seeing on the highway:

CONNECTICUT: YOU’RE ALMOST TO NEW YORK.

I think Montana is selling itself short as a doormat.  It’s a great place to visit.  One of my best vacations was driving through (above) Glacier National Park.  So here are some suggestions for a state slogan:

PROTECTING YOU FROM CANADA

BUTTE IS A BEAUT (LIVINGSTON NOT SO MUCH)

A GREAT PLACE TO VISIT IF YOUR NAME ISN’T CUSTER

CONGRATULATIONS YOU JUST LEFT NORTH DAKOTA

WE’RE COOLER THAN TEXAS (TEMPERATURE WISE)
